Phase 1: Mapping and identification

Phase 1, “Mapping and identification”, will include the comprehensive description of all stages relating to water abstraction, impoundment, conveyance, distribution (supply side), water use and wastewater/drainage collection, treatment, disposal (drainage/wastewater side), in terms of methods followed and technologies applied to provide water supply and wastewater/drainage services to individual sectors.

In this step, an initial selection of environmental impact categories will be made, in order to facilitate the development of the inventory required to undertake baseline and scenario-based eco-efficiency assessments in Phases 2 and 3.

Furthermore, the analysis will also account for the different actors that intervene across the chain and the corresponding policy and decision-making structures, in order to fully identify the interactions among them.
