WP4: Eco-efficiency assessments in industrial water uses

The aim of Work Package 4 is to develop four (4) Case Studies for meso-level eco-efficiency assessment of water use in industrial sectors. The analysed systems concern the:

The objectives of Case Study analyses are to:

  1. Provide measures of eco-efficiency in the above systems, through the development of indicators
  2. Identify technologies for enhancing eco-efficiency in different industrial water uses and assess their performance in relation to a Business-As-Usual scenario
  3. Elaborate mid-term technology scenarios and assess the potential environmental and economic impacts from technology implementation and uptake.

The Work Package will particularly focus on establishing a broad basis for the testing and refinement of eco-efficiency indicators, demonstrating how these can facilitate the use of innovative technologies, as it will develop Case Studies for different sectors, at diverse scales and contexts.
