WP3: Eco-efficiency assessments in urban water systems

The aim of Work Package 3 is to develop two (2) Case Studies for meso-level eco-efficiency assessments in the urban water systems of:

The analysis will be performed for two distinct paths:

  • Supply utility - customer/households - treatment utility
  • Supply utility - business SMEs - treatment utility

The Work Package objectives are to:

  1. Provide measures of eco-efficiency in the above paths, through the development of indicators
  2. Identify cleaner production technologies and practices and assess their performance in relation to a Business-As-Usual scenario
  3. Elaborate different mid-term technology scenarios and assess the potential environmental and economic impacts from technology implementation and uptake.

In addition, the Work Package will particularly focus on the refinement of the EcoWater analytical framework, to account for potential data availability constraints, enhance its relevance to different actors, and address uncertainties in relation to data and assumption scenarios.
