Παρακάτω παρουσιάζονται τα ερευνητικά έργα που σχετίζονται με τη διαχείριση των υδατικών πόρων στα οποία έχει συμμετάσχει η ΜΔΕΠΣ. Τα έργα αυτά κατηγοριοποιούνται ευρύτερα στις ακόλουθες θεματικές περιοχές:

Ολοκληρωμένη διαχείριση υδατικών πόρων σε περιοχές που χαρακτηρίζονται από ποιοτική ή/και ποσοτική έλλειψη νερού και επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής.

Εφαρμογή της Οδηγίας Πλαίσιο για τα νερά στα κράτη μέλη της ΕΕ, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην οικονομική ανάλυση και την τιμολόγηση υπηρεσιών νερού.

Αφαλάτωση & σχεδιασμός συστημάτων αφαλάτωσης.

Έρευνα για την τρέχουσα δυναμικότητα τις αγοράς για τις εγκαταστάσεις αφαλάτωσης που τροφοδοτούνται από ΑΠΕ, το γενικό σχέδιο, την τεχνική, οικονομική και περιβαλλοντική εκτίμηση των συστημάτων αφαλάτωσης που τροφοδοτούνται από ΑΠΕ.

Το έργο AquaNES έχει ως στόχο να αποτελέσει τον καταλύτη για την εφαρμογή καινοτόμων μεθόδων επεξεργασίας νερού και αποβλήτων, μέσω βελτιωμένων συνδυασμών φυσικών και μηχανικών διεργασιών.

WASSERMed: Water availability and security in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean
The WASSERMed project analyses, in a multi-disciplinary way, ongoing and future climate induced changes in hydrological budgets and extremes in southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East under the frame of threats to national and human security, including the assessment of changes in mean flows, frequency and magnitude of extreme precipitation (intensity and duration), surface run-off, stream flows ground water balance, as well as social and economic factors.
