George Arampatzis is Assistant Professor at the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete. Until April 2018 he was a senior researcher in the Environmental and Energy Management Research Unit and a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the School of Chemical Engineer. 

Born in Nea-Vissa, Orestiada, Greece in 1967. He studied in the National Technical University of Athens obtaining a Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1991. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2000 (thesis title: “Simulation of Transport Phenomena in Solidification Processes”).

His work as a researcher in the National Technical University of Athens included participation in EU and National research projects, lectures in post graduate educational programmes, supervision of post and under-graduate thesis and design and development of scientific software tools.

His research interests focus on the environmental management and protection, water resources management, water supply in stressed areas, climate change adaptation, drought management, energy conservation & regional energy planning with renewable energy sources, transport, computer aided analysis of complex systems, geographical information systems, artificial intelligence, e-learning technologies and applications.

His expertise is on modelling and optimization of systems and processes, on the development and implementation of computational techniques and on the design and development of decision support systems.

From 1992 to 1998 he worked at S.P.E.E.D Development Consultants SA Company as a project and programme manager, participating in studies and consulting services and designing and developing information systems.
