Put "water issues" on the political agenda.

Dr. Salim Sarraf

I focus on the main solution which consists in collecting the winter and rain water in dams or lakes in order to use it in periods of shortage. The proposed dams are the following:

  • Summakieh dam  - capacity: 20 million m³
  • Multaka al nahrein dam  -  capacity: 60 million m³
  • Maaser El Shouf dam  -  capacity: 2 million m³
  • Several mountain lakes

  • Short & Medium-term solutions:
    • Dams
    • Recycling water
    • Fines for polluters
    • Awareness to problems
  • Long term solutions:
    • Save and protect the fauna & flora of the Damour river basin to keep it for our children
    • Protect and save water which is a precious gift and very expensive in certain countries.

 Georges Anis Fadel

  • Take into consideration the genuine owners of water rights who are entitled to the use of Damour river waters
  • Stop violations from those who do not have rights
  • Stop drilling/exploiting wells, especially those of the government and especially in the coastal area.

  • Create and enhance public awareness to orient the public towards more responsible water usage
  • Increase water supply through the construction of dams
  • Restudy and carry out a new survey on irrigated lands and potable water, as well as waste water
