In view of its importance, the Oum-Er-Rbia basin draw attention since 1929 with the realization of dam sidi said Maachou and since this date it has been achieved 15 dams of which 5 are important. The present total storage capacity is about 5.220 Mm³.

The Oum Er Rbia basin is suitable favorably to an important regularization of its waters thanks to the existence of the big dam Al Massira in the part downstream of the basin.

The total volume regularized by these dams is 3604 Mm³/year (33% of the total volume mobilized in the country).

Indeed the importance of potentialities in water of this oued and its tributaries drove to achieve a certain number of equipments to the profit of the drinking water, the agriculture and the production of the electric energy.

Efforts for groundwater mobilization currently permit to make available a volume of 300 Mm³ per year, which represents 10% of mobilized resources in the country. Volumes of water appropriated annually from the main water tables of the basin are indicated below.
