There is a pronounced seasonality of domestic and irrigation water demand, which both peak during in the summer period, due to increased influx of tourists and the increased needs for irrigation respectively (see Figure below).

This pronounced seasonality of water demand for both uses poses a serious problem to the ability of the national water system to cover the water needs.
